TiVo HD

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Life is good once again. I don’t care that I got a ridiculous speeding ticket on my way home from the gym yesterday. I don’t even care that I ran into a cement pole in the parking garage this morning.

TiVo HD is here!

I had TiVo for years but an unfortunate run-in with a lighting bolt did my old unit in. Since then, I’ve been dealing with ComCast’s ShitFuck DVR. It really is the worst creation in DVR history. How could TiVo get it right the first go around when all the imitation boxes suck so horrendously?

Who cares? TiVo is back!

Ironically enough, I was reading about this very box last night but they had not official release date set. I was actually considering buying a reconditioned TiVo Series 3 box from TiVo.com for $500 but thought better of it. Good thing I did because as soon as checked out engadget this morning, I saw that the new TiVo HD had launched. I of course immediately headed over to TiVo’s site to place my order. Oddly enough, the site kept rejecting my credit card. Bastards. So, I headed over to CircuitCity.com. They had the item in stock, ready for immediate shipping, and best of all, they’re credit card processing system was working just fine.

With that complete, I headed over to ComCast’s site to order the required CableCards to make my new baby work. I really like the fact ComCast has online chatting with customer service rather than requiring me to talk to someone. I hate talking to people… anyways, I tell Jason that I would like two CableCards for my kickass new TiVo HD that will replace the worthless ShitFuck DVR they had provided me. He says, “ok dude… whatever… I’ll schedule your installation.”

Installation? wtf mate?

Jason then informs me that only a trained ComCast technician can “install” CableCards. Are you kidding me? This of course prompted my next question, “Is there a fee for this service?”

Jason: “Yes. $29”

Fucking ComCast…

Whatever… The box is scheduled to be delivered on 8/7 and the highly trained and certified CableCard inserting installer guy will be there the following day. I cannot wait.

Goodbye ShitFuck DVR!

End of the ShitFuck DVR era, and I’m very much ok with that.

i had a horrible time with the Comcast online chatty thing. “Julie” was an idiot and wasted my time. She was unable to do anything and I had to call the customer service people anyway.

  4. dpb Says:

You should have chatted with Jason.

  5. BooBoo Says:

    You should get laid…

I share your elation in this purchase!!! I tried to order through the website as well, rejected. Called in… waited forEVER, but, couldn’t get their website to work then either. FUCK! So, she said she would call me back, and place the order for me.

Just got a message with a confirmation number!!! YAY TIVO!

C-YA FUCKING ASS FUCK COMCAST DVR!!!

  7. dpb Says:

BooBoo, you should call me back.

duane, It’s ShitFuck DVR not what you said.

BooBoo, that was not inferring that you were to be the one who would get me laid, simply a reminder to call me back. ;-)

  8. BooBoo Says:

Sorry but I have been on my deathbed for two weeks…I will call soon.

  9. dpb Says:

Sorry to hear it lady… I hope you get feeling better soon. Being old sucks, huh?

Lucky, we’d only get 3 HD channels (we already get) that we’d have to pay extra for, there’s always OTA I guess, I’m pondering if it’s worth it now…

  11. dpb Says:

We did OTA for a while and it wasn’t too bad … you still only got the networks though. I pay an extra $5/mo for the “digital package” from ComCast that gives me all the other HD channels such as ESPN and such.

ComCast blows… wish I could do DirecTV again.

  12. Greg Says:

I dont care too much about ESPN in HD… We only get 2 local channels along with Discovery HD via cable, we’re missing out on a half dozen other local ones right now… I want ABC and NBC in HD!

  13. dpb Says:

Greg, originally I didn’t get ABC HD through cable. Apparently Adelphia didn’t have the rights to broadcast it or something … finally, after about a year of being owned by ComCast, ABC HD popped up.

  14. Greg Says:

Yeah, we’re an old Adelphia area taken over by Time Warner, but no ABC or NBC, blows as thats the main networks I watch for Lost and Heroes etc

  15. dpb Says:

Heroes is great in HD! Lost is good, too but HD definitely gave me a vested interest in saving the cheerleader… so hot!

  16. vttym Says:

    Shapeshifting chick was hotter :)

Grats on the HD Tivo.. your life can now resume as normal!

  17. dpb Says:

    Agreed on the shapeshifting chick.

  18. Greg Says:

Yeah, but that wasn’t her true form, she shifted it… Who knows if she even was a chick to begin with?

  19. dpb Says:

Who cares? As long as she’s a chick while in HD, I’m content.

  20. Greg Says:

ARGH! I’m weak, I walked into Circuit City at lunchtime *just to see* and walked out $312 poorer, but richer in my heart

  21. dpb Says:

Wow! They already have them in the stores? When I was on Circuit City’s site yesterday they weren’t available for in-store pickup. Grr…

  22. Greg Says:

Yeah, no wait for delivery for me… Though I imagine it’s gonna be a pain to do all the wishlists and season passes again :’(

  23. dpb Says:

I don’t have to wait too long, mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I actually can’t wait to re-do all my season passes. The ShitFuck DVR was so horrible that I want to spend as much time messing with my TiVo as possible … just enjoying its simplicity all over again.
