Damnit

I had planned to work from home today since Halloween is the worst day for traffic every year in Atlanta. I thought I was being smart. I thought I was in control.

Not so much.

After sleeping in three hours later than I normally wake up, I showered, walked Dog, and sat down to “get some work done.” And it began…

Problem #1. I had forgotten to copy the file I was working on off my local PC at the office onto a shared folder so I could access it from home. I called, emailed, dispatched courier pigeon to just about anyone I knew was in the office. No response. After a couple hours, I finally got a hold of someone who was able to copy the file out for me.

Problem #2. File was corrupted. The real issue is, I didn’t realize the file was corrupted and assumed there was a problem with the remote connection. After fiddling with potential workarounds for a while, I begrudgingly decided I needed to come into the office.

Problem #3. Realized the file was corrupted when I had the same problems at the office that I did at home. I was able to uncorrupt(???) the file… something I could have done at home.

Now, I’m stuck at the office and looking forward to a shit-tastic commute home this afternoon. Anyone up for happy hour?

Why is Halloween the worst day for traffic?

My commute was a little worse than a “normal” Wednesday, but not too bad! I kept hearing on the radio all day how the commute was one of the worst of the year, but I did not see that. How did it end up being for you? Did you end up at happy hour somewhere?

Jenn, typically traffic is bad because all the parents leave work early to get home and take the hellions trick or treating. According to mitch however, it wasn’t that bad. Wish I had known that then….
