Falcons Blacked Out
The NFL is blacking out the Falcons last game of the season this Sunday. Fucking lame. I’m sure there is some big money corporate reason for it but as a fan, it’s pretty much a big greasy slap in the face. I’ve watched every disappointing game this season (except the other blacked out game against SF) and now I’m told I can’t watch what should be an equally disappointing final game of the season.
Sure, I could buy a ticket and go to the game but I have a reason not do that, too. It’s just so damn frustrating. I want to be a fan. I want to watch my team through thick AND thin. Tell me why I should support my team when the league won’t even let me watch a game on TV? Give me something… stream it online. Put it on The NFL Network (which I don’t get but at least it’s an alternative). Give me something… if you won’t, I’ll find something else to entertain me next season. God knows the Falcons are still going to be shit anyways.
Is this REALLY how the league thinks they’ll get fan support for the Falcons again after everything that happened this year with Vick, Petrino, and a disastrous season?

Did you grow up here? Do you remember the decades when we only got to watch the Falcons every other week? Hell, I think we had blackouts the year we went to the SuperBowl. The local blackouts didn’t stop until Vick started filling the Dome.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a stupid rule, and it’s a slap in the face for those of us who want to back the Birds, but it’s an old one that’s not going to change just because we’ve endured a horrible season.

Think how Oakland and Jacksonvill fans feel, near enough all their home games are blacked out

Maybe you should buy a ticket and go to the game…maybe the football gods no longer hate you and want you to come to the game…maybe that is why they have sucked so bad (in addition to all the other factors of course) is because the football gods want you back at the games and they are trying to tell you by having the game blacked out! LOL

Yeah, I recognize blackouts are nothing new to the Falcons, but it doesn’t changed how dumb the rule is.
Greg, I think the people in Oakland and Jacksonville feel pretty lame because they live in Oakland and Jacksonville… pretty shitty cities.

Agreed, and they black out a game that would have really gotten fans excited. 4 TDs by Redman? Why wasn’t this guy starting earlier in the year?
