Yelping
Last night I went to the Yelp meetup at Marlow’s Tavern in Midtown. I started Yelping before Yelp was technically “in Atlanta.” I haven’t reviewed anything really since then but after last night, I really have the urge to get back into it. There was a huge turnout and the people I met all seemed pretty cool. I like how they are trying to build an IRL community for the reviewers. It really differentiates them from the other reviewing sites.
In fact, a certain Atlanta blogger is like a rockstar in the Yelp community. Everyone was so excited to meet her. I had a somewhat brush with my own stardom as well. I mentioned my review of all the major strip clubs in Atlanta and was recognized as “David B, the guy who reviewed The Clermont Lounge.” That was cool. I’ve always wanted to be famous.

As the granter of said brush with fame….the review rocked, just take it in stride.
Awesome getting to meet and hang out with some other old school Yelp people who didn’t feel the need to dress up and work the room like it was a marketing seminar.
