Sound on Film

I went to the Masquerade this Saturday to show support for a good friend’s younger brother’s band, Skank Juice. It was their first on stage appearance and for a bunch of teenagers, they did fairly well. The lead singer, a female with a mullet and bangs (she’s groundbreaking), needs the most work… like remembering the lines to their songs. It helps.

The band which preceded Skank Juice was called Sound on Film. They rocked. It’s rare for me to be really turned on by a band when the first time I hear them is live, but SoF totally broke that streak. I’m no music reviewer by any stretch but I really like the way the band pulled in a variety of different sounds to their music. From bells to a xylophone, they really mixed it up. I was fortunate enough to meet the band after the show and Max, lead guitar and vocals and apparent front man, gave me a few free passes to their show March 18th at Smiths Olde Bar. I’ll definitely be going. If anyone wants to tag along on a Tuesday night, let me know.

You can check out a couple of their songs on their MySpace page: Sound on Film

In other news, after the show I went out with a bunch of friends. The bar the ladies wanted to go to (MJQs) was not open so we went to the bar next door. It was a gay bar. Oops. A gay guy hit on me. It made me feel good. I nearly busted a gut laughing when he tapped me on the nose with his finger and said, “You. Are. Too. Cute.” Cracked my shit up.
