But yeah gas prices are high, and i care about the environment. There is NO shortage. Prices are being artificially manipulated, either by speculators who are driving prices up, or by oil companies who are reporting a false "shortage" just to drive prices up. This reminds me of when electricity prices skyrocketed in Califonia in 2000 and 2001. There were public messages on the radio and tv everyday, saying that there was a power shortage and to conserve electricity. Well, guess what...it turned out that Enron was deliberately shutting down power plants to create a false "shortage" that didn't exist. As soon as the Enron scandal came out, the power shortage suddenly vanished. No more rolling blackouts, no more messages on the radio or tv. Everything was quiet. There was never any shortage. The same thing is happening with gas prices. And environmentalists are partly to blame because they are giving credit to the hype and rumors about a shortage that doesn't exist. They have their own alterior motives...I actually did hear an environmentalists say one time that they are glad the gas prices are so high, because that will make people drive less...even if it it does mean people are barely surviving. Some people live in the REAL world and can't ride a bicycle to work everyday. Has anyone noticed that most environments tend to be upper-class? Maybe they will start to feel the misery too when their organic food starts to tripple in price because it's more expensive to ship everything.
